GEL – Opportunities

Here you will find information on The Trinity Schools’ GEL (Graduates, Entrepreneurs, Leaders) opportunities. This is part of our super curriculum which extends students’ learning beyond the classroom.

Here at The Trinity School, we are ambitious for all our students. We want to help you to become knowledgeable, respectful citizens, who will be the graduates, entrepreneurs, and leaders (GELs) of tomorrow. To help achieve this, we have prepared our GEL opportunities curriculum.

In this booklet, you will find activities that take your regular curriculum further. They take the subjects you study in the classroom beyond that which your teacher has taught you. This is called a “super curriculum”. These activities are normally in the form of extra reading, but they can take other forms, like watching films or documentaries, researching articles online, visiting places or entering academic competitions. Engaging in GEL activities will help you develop a love of learning, improve your skills, and widen your cultural experiences.

In these booklets, there are a range of activities for you to try. These are not exhaustive lists but should get you started. We encourage you to share other ideas and opportunities you come across with your teachers and peers. In the future, employers or universities will be interested to hear about what additional curricular activities you have engaged in; they will be interested in what you have learnt and impressed by your efforts. You should complete at least 1 activity per term. Many of you will do more than this. Try to do activities from as many different subjects as you can to increase the breath of your knowledge. Also, you should alternate between “read it” and “research it” tasks when possible. For each completed activity, you should prepare a short report to share with your tutor and peers.
