Governors

My son is a founding student at The Trinity School. Previously I was very active in my son’s primary school’s PTA, and I was chair of the PTA for a couple of years.

My career is in corporate financial banking and publishing in technology over the last 25+years.

I have a great interest in education and students’ development and progression through their time in secondary school. With The Trinity School being built near where I live, it will be a great opportunity to be part of the governing board and to help integrate the new school into the community. I look forward to using my corporate skillset within the governing board.

I am a Chair of Governors at a local primary school and a qualified and practising solicitor with over 20 years’experience. My specialism and keen interest has always been in safeguarding and youth justice. I am currently working within the Civil Service as a national legal training manager responsible for the professional development of approx. 3000 legally qualified staff. To support this, I am an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). I hope to combine my primary governance experience with my professional skills in law and learning and development to ensure the developing and continued success of both schools. Away from work and governance I am a proud parent of a founding Trinitarian and will have a second at that school in September 2023. I am a keen but very amateur player and fan of cricket.

I am passionate about education and the science of learning and have worked across the education sector for over twenty years in both employed and volunteer roles. Having lately taken time out to study Psychology as a postgraduate, I have very recent experience of being on the other side of the classroom. I’m a gym class enthusiast and language aficionado who can also be found with knitting needles in hand and a few projects on the go.

I became a governor on the joint Trinity and Gilberd Governing Board in October 2022. Hitherto, I was a parent-governor for four years in my daughter’s London-based secondary school, before my family and I moved to Colchester. I am a career civil servant and currently work in the Department for Education on academy policy.

I will be using my past school governor experience and civil service knowledge to make a positive contribution to the effective governance of The Trinity Schools, in which my son is a founding student, which means that I feel I have a vested interest in ensuring the success of the school.

I have worked in education for over 20 years and am currently Head of School at a village primary school. I am passionate about education for all children and developing individuals to not only achieve their full potential but also make a positive contribution to their community and wider world.

I have substantial experience of primary governance and therefore understand the vital role governors play with challenge and support to ensure that a school moves forward. I relish the opportunity to be part of the Trinity governing body, where I hope my experience of will support the school in continuing to succeed as it grows and develops. Outside of work I am a parent to two children, one of whom is a proud Trinitarian and the other a future one. I love spending time outdoors with my family, being at the gym and reading.

I live locally with my wife and our 2 children. We are keen cyclists and make regular use of the Northern Gateway facilities.

I qualified as a Teacher of English from Canterbury Christchurch in 1998 and have worked in a variety of schools in Southeast Essex with a range of leadership roles. More recently I have been a Headteacher in a school in Norfolk and a Headteacher in a school in Southeast London.

Having qualified as a teacher of French, my career in education spanned 36 years. During this time, I worked in a number of different leadership roles. Whilst now retired, I remain passionate about providing education of the highest quality possible for all students. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, travelling, theatre visits as well as volunteering in my local church and in a community café. I live locally and am excited about the opportunity to be a Governor at The Trinity School.

‘I am the Accounts Manager for a regional construction company where I have worked since 2003. I am also a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians. Having lived in Colchester my whole life I have a strong interest in my local community and believe that there is no better cause than the education of future generations. Outside of work I enjoy attending the theatre, volunteering at the local parkrun, and cycling.’

I have worked in the Education sector for over 10 years and am currently the Pastoral Support Lead for Year 7.

This is my second year working at the Trinity School and this year I have enjoyed the challenge of settling into the new building as well as welcoming new and existing students. I am now looking forward to building and establishing a relationship with the local community.

I have previously been a Primary School Governor and found the role enormously rewarding, as I am passionate about ensuring our children get the best education and opportunities they deserve.
I have lived in Colchester for 20 years and previously worked in the legal sector.

Outside of work I am a keen runner and volunteer at my local church helping with the youth groups and Holiday Club.

Before starting my teaching career four years ago, I led the training and development of football referees in Essex and chaired a national football body focused on referee development in partnership with The FA, PGMOL, and the Premier League.

Joining The Trinity School in September 2024 as Subject Lead for Business and Computing, my goal is to enhance the computing curriculum and build an engaging GCSE program as we take on our first group of Year 10 students. I’m passionate about offering students enriching experiences beyond the classroom. This is an area I explored in my masters research and I aim to develop our students into more rounded individuals.

Outside of school, I’m a qualified ski instructor and serve as a Specialist Assistant Referee in semi-professional football.
